Benefits of Deep Tissue Therapeutic Massage
BENEFITS OF MASSAGE ARE MANY . . .
Scientists now suggest massage may reduce post exercise inflammation and improve recovery. a report published in Science Translational Medicine (2012, 4 , 119ra ,130 focused on what happens to the muscle at a physiological level when massage is applied after intense exercise. The test subjects underwent resting muscle biopsies of the right and left vastus lateralis before the intervention. They then exercised at a high-intensity level for about 70 minutes. Once the exercise protocol was complete, a licensed massage therapist massaged one leg of each participant for 10 minutes; the other, non-massaged leg of each participant acted as a control. The scientist were not told which leg had been massaged. participants then under went two more rounds of biopsies on each leg; one immediately post massage and the other 2.5 hours later. Researchers discovered "Pathways that were apparent reflected an increase in mitochondrial bio-genesis and a decrease in inflammation," explained lead author Mark Tarmoplsky, MD, PhD
I've personally received deep tissue massages for the over three years with tremendous benefits including the release of about twenty muscle restrictions, an increase in mobility, flexibility and am now pain free. Before that period of time, I had massages for about ten years but, they were not deep tissue therapeutic massages. Until I received deep tissue therapeutic massages my body didn't progress forward towards complete healing. I often refer my clients to see a massage therapist who have reported results simular to mine. Please feel free to contact me for more details. If you haven't tried massage I'd highly recommend you do so!
